Cyanotype Prints

A collection of works from RE-TURN exhibition.

The artist uses the characteristic Prussian blue colour of the iron-based pigment in this series of cyanotypes as a means to find visual form for the conversation between the macrocosm of our universe and the microcosm of the intimate little worlds that fill her everyday, from her garden to her studio. The result is a collection of prints that functions as an archive that offers a forensic, yet emotionally laden look at the world and its elements and their qualities of fragility and chance. Reflecting on the ephemeral nature of the moments in time, the series aims to capture the elements that usually escape our vision but still register their presence peripherally, in our minds and through our emotional responses. Some of the prints in the series are paper-based and some are made on cotton fabric, its granularity adding textural warmth and another dimension to our experience of the work through its tactile quality.
